engine question... (2ZR-FE and 2ZZ-GE)
the first one is the new yaris TS engine and the second one is the celica TS engine.
both are 1.8, both are vvt-i, both are 16v. the yaris engine produce 133 bhp, but the celica engine produce 190 bhp. what do i miss? |

VVTL-i and a GE vs FE head
2ZR is economy-oriented, 2ZZ is performance oriented, basically!

bet you can swap the FE head with a GE head..
so you'd have a 2ZR-GE... and later generation of the 2ZZ only outputs 180 on the celica and 170 on the corolla.. hehe funny shit. |

Oh and yeah, there are certain sub-versions of the 2ZZ as mentioned, with different outputs... Standard Toyota spec is 180hp for the Celica, Lotus tweaked their version to 190hp (or 230hp if I am not mistaken with a supercharger in the Exige S), and the Corolla version was de-tuned I think to suit some regulations (as it's not considered a sports car like the Celica, it probably needs to be quieter, I dunno...)

all 2zzge's put down the same at-wheel horsepower, despite what the brochures say
2zrfe would fit in the yaris MUCH more easily than a 2zzge
