205/50/16's won't rub, but with ET38, I'd go with 195/50/16's.

wider is better for traction, grip, braking forces and lateral forces. however, skinnier is better in wet weather...
so take your pick, although i doubt you'll notice any difference w a 10mm difference in widths unless you're a serious racer. i'd go 205 because the tires are cheaper and you have a better selection |

I would go with 205 50 16 but I am worried they will rub. I am not lowering so I want my wheel well full so it looks like 195 50 16 unless some one can tell me that the 205 won't rub. My offset is 38.

Because you are running ET38, I would install 195/50/16's. BTW, 195/50's are the JDM OEM tyre size. |

How often do you load your car (passengers or cargo)? 205/50 may not rub unloaded but when the time comes (Loaded) it could...

16x7 +42 offset
Looking at replacing my rims again. I have 195 50 16 tires with 16x7 +38 offset currently and want to go with same size rim but with a +42 offset. Does anyone know if this will work???
