I recommend everyone go out and buy some vaseline. Things are about to get painful.

^ well said!

And then, we can all pray that no other oil producing country in the Middle East declares a revolution *sigh*

We're past $4.00 / gallon in San Francisco. I forgot to take a picture this morning, for a minute there, when I looked at the pump, I thought I was back in Europe. :(

That's about the price we had 2 years ago (2009).

My last fill-up was 6,60$/gallon (1,24€/1,74$/litre). It's gone up by ~1,5% since then (in about a week).

The talk about people in larger cars having a bad time is especially true here. Some years ago, during the peak of the economic boom, (then) well-paid small-time tradesmen would buy slightly used BMW X5s and 7-series and S-class Mercs. Parking lots near building sites used to be filled with black luxury cars. Now many of them have lost their jobs and are finding it difficult to get rid of their Beemers and Mercs in favour or something more... suitable. The ones who have kept theirs have to cut back on repair and maintenance costs to buy fuel...
