Just an idea, want your opinions!

Hey all,

So i've decided it's time the RS really kicked it up a notch on the In Car Entertainment, as it's already pimping with its Advanti / Red Bull Racing 17" Alloys on the outside, now for a bit of sparkle on the inside...

So, anyone have any thoughts, ideas or comments on my proposal to custom build an iPad 2 into the dash to replace the Pioneer DVD Headunit? Was thinking it would be pretty wicked to have a 64GB 3G + WiFi iPad 2 built in to run everything off, and that of course would give E-mail and Internet, and with a Wireless Apple Keyboard....

Would be even more interesting if the iPad fitted into some sort of custom dock so it can be removed when required...

Looking forward to the comments!

It all depends on your price range, of course with the right amount of money anything can be done. Here's a guy you might want to check out his build he uses the Pioneer P710 headunit, and has a Mac Mini hooked up.

The built in iPad idea is being done already...

There were several iPad installs at CES this year. It can be done in our vehicles.

I would have asked you where you are to recommend someone BUT, I'm afraid I don't know anyone in Milawi. Now...if you were to work with someone here in the states, we could probably shuttle the job to you.

man, that takes up a lot of dash space...and it's just about as far from low key as you can get. I'd give it a few months before the car gets broken into just for the ipad. Around here it wouldn't stand a snowballs chance.

I think something with a really nice AUX setting would be perfect for a dockable iPad. The only thing that would be a problem is making a USB compatible docking station, probably has been done many of times just something I've never seen.

I've seen the iPad integrated into a vehicle and used as the hub multiple times. It can be and has been proven to work well.
