Space in the trunk???

How much space do you all think there is between the flip up spare tire hider and the actual spare tire. Reason I'm asking it that the bottom side of that fold up piece would be a great place to mount amps.....

Just looked...I figure there is about 30" long by 12" deep and 2" down at the tightest point...looks like I found my amp mount local.

2" of depth would be an "almost, but not quite" situation for most amps, wouldn't it? Assuming it/they would fit in places that didn't touch that tightest point, would there be some concerns over heat in such tight quarters?

Well my measuments are not exact but more of an eyeball guess. With the left tote tray removed there is plenty of room. As far as heat goes, a vent fan could easily be placed in the handle cutout to help keep the air moving. This would also help defrost your rear window in the winter ;)

theres lots of room for an amp / amps under that tray. Im planning to move my battery back there and its like 7" tall. Just realised your probably asking what it is WITH the spare in the back correct? No reason for me to have a 14" spare anymore.

I will prolly install with industrial velcro on the bottom of the decklid. IF I do need to get to my spare tire I dont want to have to remove my amp or anything. Of course that requires me to quit being lazy and install my amp so I can hook up my sub. I am bent on using my stock deck or swapping in my other mp3 cd player.

I was going to do the same thing. Then, I looked closer and realized that the trays also act as supports for the spare tire cover. So I just put the amp "loose" beside the spare tire.

When I have time, I want to try something like echo_hrs' setup.
