Same thing as motion jpeg, the one with tons of Jpegs for each frame of video but in this case it's just one gif file that has all the "frames". I used to turn short anime clips to animate gif (Initial D) anyone? I believe u are limited to 256bit color, but makes sense for avatars which are tiny files.
Maybe animate a lens flare, lol. Passing from left to right. Joking aside, a banner signature should help us out alot.
