I've long been thinking about getting the small OEM spoiler as well. However, one thing that worries me is that the installation requires drilling holes into the metal of the car. Is it possible that, years from now, rust will form around the area where the holes were drilled? By default, you'd be removing the paint and rust protection from that particular spot. I'm so concerned about this that I haven't bought the spoiler. Anyone have an expert opinion on this?

No rust here, have had my RS spoiler on since...October 2007 if memory serves. I know that was my first mod done few months after purchasing the car in June 2007.

Just apply some rust-oleum to the holes - it's actually listed as a step in the installation instructions.

If done correctly, it won't be an issue. Don't worry about it and get that spoiled you've been wanting!
