Yeah, makes me wonder about wheel powdercoating, too (not that I'm about to do that having just bought new wheels). However, what's the rule? I've had wheels powdercoated in the past without issue ...

it all comes down to the science. these particular wheels are low pressure cast and heat treated to increase tensile strength. heat treating again would change the metal characteristics, since powercoat cures around 390f thats basically heat treating a second time. bad for these wheels. for other wheels the powdercoat process might make them stronger, that all depends on how they were made in the first place. |
