Yes I did and WOW, what a piss-poor excuse of a socall, sport option

But from my original post, the ''S'' option for the Yaris is gone.

So, what is ''SE'' ??
Sport Enhanced??
Sport Engineered??
Sport Excited??
HUUMMM, AHH = Sport Exit!!

It does appear that the Yaris line is going down another path
while the new Scion IQ has the Toyota Brass targeting a new
crowd. TRD does have bolt on options for the IQ & not the Yaris.

Sad for all the Yaris enthusiests

SE traditionally stands for Sport Edition. As LE stands for Luxury Edition.
Perhaps you'll need to find your S with Scion.

That 'piss poor excuse' of a sport option has more changes versus the base Yaris than the S models of the previous generation ever did. It is more than just body stick ons and some red interior stitching. The old Yaris S had NO changes to it that weren't cosmetic. It only LOOKED sporty.

The Yaris SE gains:
- rear disc brakes
- different, quicker steering ratio
- +1 alloy wheels (S models of the '07-'11 gen still came with hubcaps)
- altered suspension tuning
- leather wheel and shifter
- entirely different front bumper cover (not just stick on lips)

So ah...yeah. Not to defend the '12 (because I have an '09) but the Yaris SE wallops the previous gen Yaris S as far as what you get for upgrading. And yes, it is a sportier drive than a Yaris S (sedan OR hatch). Might want to check your facts next time.

you forgot a one...

- entirely different rear bumper with "diffuser" and stainless steel exhaust tip.

I guess what TRDMarty is trying to say is that there are no TRD products for the 2012 Yaris?

Thanks for the edit.

If that's what Marty was trying to say, then that's what he should've said instead of calling the sportiest Yaris yet on American shores a "piss poor excuse for a sporty model."

TRD stuff doesn't usually show up for at least a few months or so after the model debut. The '12s haven't even been out a year yet. Give it some time, especially considering that the '12 is largely similar to the '11 underneath the new cosmetics skin. Most everything chassis oriented from the '11 should bolt up to a '12 just fine.

Yeah the new SE is a bigger difference than the previous S vs base. The new SE has actual sport enhancements like stiffer suspension and steering and a higher quality kit (not glued on pieces).

The new naming follows the Camry SE. I'm surprised the Corolla still uses the "S" designation for 2012.
