I can vouch that '94 Mazda Protege 14" steelies will clear the calipers and are a 1:1 match for bore and lugs. I would also recommend going as skinny as possible on the tires to reduce rolling resistance and rotational mass. I ran a set of 175/70R14's over the winter and they were plenty smooth when driving and responsive when accelerating. Granted, you won't be able to do much in a corner with those sidewalls, but you can't have the best of both worlds.
