I don't know what post that's from but on my Echo it is indeed 6500rpm. It's different between models.

So after close to 1400 posts I guess my question is what does this intake actually gain someone? if HP/TQ are negligible are we talking an FE gain at this point? I apologize, but with this many posts even digging back on a couple hundred can be muddled.

The PR spec cars might be. The PR spec '03 HB I drove a long time ago had a 6700 redline.

I'll test and video JR's car today. We should be able to hear the fuel cut at 6250... or 6500.. or 6700...

I'm pretty sure the rev limit is 6250, That's the only number that's ever corresponded with my data. 60 MPH in 2nd gear is all I've ever seen with my race tires.

If I were still modding my sedan, I'd probably go with the Tooter and the 1ZZ TB based on the torque curve in that dyno graph (I do most of my driving from 2k-3.5k).

Yeah, green line. I kinda disregarded anything past 4k as I'm rarely ever past 4k unless merging on the freeway. lol. Any bump in torque below 3.5k is a plus, but I do see that it does lose some torque around 2.1k.

![]() I'm sure with the Tooter, SRI, 1ZZ TB, a header, and a 2" cat-back exhaust, it'll have a nice low end torque increase over stock

This netted 2hp and 2 torque, a 1.5% gain. Easy mod to install, not too bad.
1.5% on a Yaris would be about 1-1.3 hp I think if it were proportional?

You missed the point, Garm...
![]() It doesn't make gains. It moves the torque curve lower in rpms. The stock Tacoma 2.7 engine's torque peaks at 3,800 rpm. With an LCE long tube header and this intake manifold spacer, the torque peak is reached at just 2,900 rpm... without reducing the peak value. The speed limiter cut the engine off on those 4th gear runs, but it didn't matter as it was just to get the low end torque readings. Last edited by tooter; 09-05-2013 at 02:32 AM. |
