Sounds like you just got a lemon, most of us on here are extremely satisfied with our Yarii.
Good luck with gas mileage (and reliability) on a Ford truck....hope you don't mind three inches of play in the steering wheel, lol. I traded a Mustang GT for my BMW (Mustang also had tons of front end play like all Fords) then traded the BMW for my Yaris and couldn't be happier with my choice. |

I...it A...again T...Tony! Around here the good old boys claim they would rather push a Chevy then drive a Ford. The Yaris is pretty much off their radar, imagine the local redneck watering hole In Inkom with a line of flatbed trucks and pickups with cow dogs in the back. ALL 4x4 of course (and we do need it here) and then my little white HB. Yeah I get looks but I get the last laugh at the gas pump, plus I can always out macho them anytime I want with either my crane truck (too big to fit the parking spaces though) or my 280K miles '98 Dodge Ram Diesel 1 ton flatbed if I'm feeling insecure. |

I took my Yaris on a trip to Florida a few months ago and before leaving I: had the serpentine belt changed for the first time at about 207k, had the brakes checked (funny sound---just needed slight adjustment and dust removed--about $40 total---and front and rear both 80 percent remaining---only 20 percent worn in 207k), had the oil changed at about 207k,added a bit of coolant to the overflow tank (it was a bit below the line), had the spark plugs changed for the first time at about 208k, and right after the spark plugs I changed the air filter myself. I may have left something out, but I don't think so (the exact intervals are on an old post). I had the spark plugs changed at the dealer and when they gave me the car back they told me they looked hard to see if there was anything they could recommend I take care of and the only thing they could come up with was the air filter (which I already had with me waiting to put in once the spark plugs were replaced). They said it is NOT burning oil at all. I'll hit the Yaris' 6th Anniversary (new when delivered) in October of this year and it will be fun to see how many miles are on the odometer at that point. My Yaris still feels rock solid ( A Wednesday car? ). I'll likely never catch Trini nor Mazilla (as Mazilla is close to 500k and Trini is at 459k+), but I'm sure I'll be adding low cost miles for a long time to come.
