I would get the blue one, as long as you get a descent warranty, if not I would choose the red one. They both look like there are in good shape. Test drive them both and then make your decision!!

What do you consider a "ton" of miles? I wouldn't be too worried to buy one with up to 100,000... it is a Toyota after all... it's still just breaking in at that point :)

I bought a 2007 base manual transmission with 42,000 miles a year ago for 9500 private party. I did have to drive a few hours to get to it. You might save some money if you wait for private party. I used one of those craigslist conglomerate sites that searches by mile radius.

I have been using autotrader and cars.com.
I didn't want one with a lot of miles because the warranty is usually not with them. The blue one has NO warranty, the Red one has a warranty through Sep 2015 and or 64,000 more miles. |

Usually with an extra warranty comes an extra premium, which if you're not at all mechanically inclined, is great. I think it's not worth it though, that's why I bought a Toyota in the first place, there are not many stories of Yaris breakdowns, aside from a few bad water pumps, I haven't really heard of anything going wrong. I just passed 105,000 miles, I replaced the water pump early (around 40,000) after a small leak and it's been fine since. I also had an oil leak from VVT solenoid fixed by mechanic for $70. I'm glad I never forked out extra for the warranty.

I found these too. The first one is a red 07 with 70K miles CERTIFIED. $9145 - pretty cheap
The second one is a blue 10 with only 8k miles. $11,900 Both are manual hatchbacks with electric windows. I really wouild like 2010 - it is in the Bronx an hour and a half away though. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...24653714&Log=0 http://quotes.getinstaquote.net/?eb6...248bacb5c96151 |

I don't think you could go wrong, really, if they check out mechanically. I test drove an 07 with 110k miles on it (I found that one of the two owners used to post on here, actually) and it was in amazingly great shape. I couldn't believe it how good it looked for how many miles it had. Even if the previous owners were really meticulous, the fact that the car could still look that good really speaks well for the Yaris.
Just to say that I wouldn't be afraid of higher miles... As long as you are compensated with a lower price, of course. But that said, given what you wrote, I would get the one your gut tells you you want, which is the Bronx one. An hour and a half is nothing for a car you're going to drive for years. Plus, I've been looking at similar cars, and IMO the 2010 is worth a lot more because it has the tach. (And the split seats.) Plus from what I've read here, it's easier to add cruise to the newer ones. |

That blue 2010 is worth $12,700 to 14,500 according to kbb.com
It seems like a good deal, and it is a brand new car in all reality with 8,000 miles. Thanks for the help guys. I have 3 cars to choose from. 2010 above, 2007 with 27,000 miles, 2011 with 7000 miles (if the price drops)

FWIW, I've noticed aftermarket parts are easier to source for the models prior to 2010, though that's quickly changing. I think most users on here and MI have '06-'09 models.

^ this I would get a new hatch as well. The fit and finish is greatly improved and its back to the driver aligned cluster and that new front looks so mean.

I am going to check out the one in the Bronx (never been to NYC before) on Saturday. $13,100 out the door, 8k miles.
I was looking at a new Hyundai Accent today, Hatch, 6 speed...16,100 out the door |

It may be worth a 4 hour ride to Baltimore tomorrow. Wow. There are a couple at that price.

I would recommend that you stick to a new Yaris (or reasonably used Yaris) .. compared to the Accent. Anyone around here will tell you that a Yaris is a far better car ..
