Let me share my experiences. First you should understand what spring rating means.
For instance, 4k Rating means for each 4 kilogram the spring will compress 1 millimeter, or ~224lb/inch. From there you can start seeing what rating you will need at what spring free length to get your desired drop. Im on 8K with 7" free length before compression. With the weight in the rear, the spring compresses just about an inch. With 4K it would drop 2 inches. I can tell you that i am 1 collar ring away from being as low as i can with that particular spring. I would recommend getting a shorter spring when you go up in stiffness. Measuring from bottom of my 14' rim to top of fender my rears are at 20 1/16". Front at 19 7/8"
