Installing TPMS - Toyota Yaris Forums

I know this has probably been covered but I'm just looking for a quick response as I'm short on time.

If you buy used Toyota wheels that come with TPMS already, but your car doesn't have it (2007 hatch base model), what's involved in getting it hooked up and working?

If it costs a lot I'll just run the wheels and ignore the TPMS.

You said your car doesn't have TPMS. Does your dash have a TPMS light?

No it doesn't have the light.

I just know that some manufacturers will already install features like this and they remain hidden until you put in a fuse or plug something in.

^ If that were true for your car, the light would be in the dash, ready to rock and roll. The whole point of TPMS is to warn you a potential tire pressure problem.

Just run the wheels with regular stems, and sell the TPMS to make some of your wheel money back. Those things aren't cheap!

Ya I might just do that and try to hook it up later.

They're 2013 Prius wheels with brand new tires for $200, and they come with the tpms ;)

The Yaris TPMS system is completely independent of the ECM, etc., so you can pretty much just add the TPMS ECU, the TPMS receiver, and an LED for the ECU to drive for the warning.

oh gotcha. You'd probably get more for the TPMS than the cost of demounting and remounting them, might be worth it to find out.

Hopefully the tires can be broken off the bead and pushed down far enough to pull out the tpms, without taking the entire tire off. Then I can sell those to recoup some of the costs.
