Maybe those who were enthused about the earlier Yaris have moved on to other car types and the new version of the Yaris just isnt inspiring the passion that it once had, My buddy just bought a new Yaris and i cant quite put my finger on it but its lost something in its appeal.

Even though I have a 3rd gen, I've always liked the 2nd gens way better. They have more "jellybean" charm.

I haven't been here as much as usual because I've been focusing on developing a product for the Tacoma. But now that it's in production I'll be back here real soon cooking up another idea for the Yaris.

My 07 just turned 25K. Joined the forum in 07 and will be here for life as this will probably be the last car I buy. People come and go, tastes change. Just hate it when pictures and posts disappear as people move on.

This forum is like a hive mind with years of accumulated Yaris wisdom easily accessed by anyone who wants it. I believe this is the wave of the future... constantly growing universally shared repositories of topic specific information.

Wow you are really good for the planet. Truly. In a good way. I intentionally purchased a floorplan that wasn't bigger than I needed (re my house) because I didn't want more 'produced resources' (many of which would not decompose in land fills) assigned to something I was purchasing than were absolutely necessary. However, I would have a very hard time driving as little as you do (and therefore consuming that little fuel in total). I'm too restless.

All we can do is keep pushin on. This is typically the age for a platform when a resurgence can occur as the prices have really dropped into what folks consider more reasonable to pay up front used and then mod. Sure, this isn't only about modding, but really the forums that don't get super stale stem from folks making changes to the original.

It is so funny because I go out into my yard, see my sedan, and it never really strikes me seriously that I purchased June of 06 and it is now November of 13. Just mind blowing. I will be making huge changes over the winter and quite possibly I will be taking the car off the road after next summer. I can say that with how unique my goals are for the platform I am also trying to do things so that the car still has a high usability as well as quality. Some folks might find my final end to the car to be possibly auctioned off years down the line on Mecum or Barrett auctions. That will be the only way that I might recoup any financial injection into the car. Personally, I am not super concerned about it, but I don't want to give the car away either. I really don't think that I could have my son inherit the car as he could never handle what it will become without the maturity needed and he seems to be growing into more of a motorcycle/truck person anyway....only time will tell.

It's in the blood. My grandfather, then my aunt, then me. All 3 of us, driving = . My grandfather (while I was growing up) would buy a new Lincoln or Cadillac and drive 140,000 miles in 2 years (with only about 10,000 of those miles being trips from home to his office) and then trade the car in and do the same thing again. He did this until he was 85 years old.

. Runs in the blood here too . Part Norwegian . Must be the Viking . Don't like boats , had a bad experience on a boat during a storm when I was younger , so rather navigate on solid ground .

LOL. My aunt got it right with her 2nd husband. My uncle and my grandfather got along so well...so much in common...same high school, same college, same fraternity, and both officers during their time in the Navy. My uncle is half Danish/half English (and just loved it when his son married someone half Norwegian....my uncle is the opposite of someone believing in a 'Social Welfare State', but he still thinks the world would be in much better shape if run entirely by Scandinavians). AFAIK my grandfather was 100% English and Welsh, but my uncle used to say (they had so much else in common) that my grandfather must be half Scandinavian (perhaps some of the English ancestors migrated from areas currently part of Denmark or Norway). Interesting that you mention the bad boat experience. My grandfather was an Ensign in WW One (he was in the latter part of his mid-sixties when I was born) and his ship/boat sank (not in battle) off the coast of Ensenada, Mexico. He only boarded any type of vessel one more time in his life...in the 1970s he felt he HAD to see where Ted Kennedy veered off the road a few years before, drowning Mary Jo Kopechne....so he and my grandmother took the ferry (or ferries?...I don't know the area well) out to Chappaquiddick (he took two vacations with JFK and two other men in 1945 and knew Joe Sr from some business deals they were both a part of over the years). Soon after seeing Chappaquiddick, my grandmother tried to convince him to go on a cruise. No luck. However, he LOVED trains. He took trains (for business trips...pre interstate system) to many different places. He and his brother used to pick up their new cars at the factory, rather than at the dealership. They'd take a train to the factory location, and then drive the cars back.

Well regarding the original topic of this thread, in my opinion, this forum would definitely be less busy and almost boring if it wasn't for the contributions of CTScott. He is unmatched in his knowledge and it would would be a severe blow to this forum should he decide to buy different car and move on. Most of the time the only reason I check Yarisworld out is to see what he added that day. Thank you CTScott for your efforts....

I'm Here Everyday........

I always check-in here everyday....I usually search through the posts for specific things & am always learning something new.
Going on 7 months with 4,884 miles as of today...car has been flawless, just awesome, love the heck out of it, so glad I found this car it is perfect.
Need to set up my 1st free servicing next week - hopefully I'll get a good reception at the dealer, sure I will.
Gas mileage seems to be going up - darn near 40 mpg without a long highway trip yet. Unreal, so lovin' this car...STILL!

Great MPG....as your area isn't exactly flat . I stopped at a Starbucks (in Hickory) about 15 miles from your town on my way up north. Only 'ex-bank' Starbucks I've ever been in that still has the vault door remaining.

Yep, I'm just North of Lenoir on 321, it's getting pretty hilly at this point in the Appalachians (we're around 1,800 feet where the house is, no flooding here!)
I actually lived in the Red Roof Inn in Hickory for the month of July 2010 while we were looking for a house in Lenoir. There was a Starbucks about 300-400 feet from the motel, it was good. (Considering there were 2 within a block from where I worked next to the White house in DC. ) I was there 2-3 times a day, VENTI refill please!

MPG's have been very, very good. I fill-up once every 3 weeks. I can feel the engine braking pretty darn good around here, even coming out of our subdivision. Will be driving up the mountain soon, last time was 4-11-13 picking up the new Yaris.
