A place to get some LEDs that are already Resistored up and ready to go is this place. I used it to do my under cabinet lighting a while back. Most of their products aren't really meant for our uses but you may want to consider them since it is basically a plug-n-play situation. They run off of 12vdc as well.

I know it isn't a perfect solution but still a solution none the less.
