2,250,000.00 Philippine Pesos at today's exchange rate = $52,179.96 USD. Crazy . An older hit from this search indicates outrageous price = because of taxes, but that hit = a 2008 post.
Unbelievable. And it's like this in many countries. It's good to be an American.

Add to that gas prices in other countries. We forget how good we have it here.

Yep.

http://www.statista.com/statistics/2...und-the-world/

^^^^^ From January 3rd - January 18th 2013 -- Gas Prices in 25 selected countries around the world. Only four of them are cheaper than the U.S.....and (no offense intended to members in those countries) I might want to visit or do enjoy visiting those countries, but I wouldn't want to live the rest of my life in any of them (especially Iran and Venezuela).

I paid $2.93 per gallon for my last fill up .

well the Prius is WAY more than a Camry here, great search nooky.

a camry alone can be had as low as PhP1.4M (philippine peso) = US$32,467.53, which is already more than the price there.

even the vios base models are already at $14,308.91. (P617,000).

in a nutshell, yes, we NEED those tax breaks. not that i can afford one anytime soon.

What's weird is that the auto prices there as well as other countries aren't proportional from model to model. Is it because of extra taxes added to cars with bigger engines/ less fuel economy?

Your price for the Vios/Yaris is similar to the U.S. While the Camry is 50% more than it is here. The Prius even more inflated than that. That sucks. All of these normal cars for us are apparently luxury cars for you. We can buy a new Mercedes for what you pay for a Camry.

We sure do!

But even with the Vioses now being built locally (in Laguna, Philippines), I doubt THIS government will be giving us any tax respite.
