Thank for the advice, if the speakers are there, is it fairly simple to disconnect the radio or am I better off going to an auto centre? Was hoping for a DIY fix after the attack on my back account from buying the car!

Pulling the radio just requires pulling off the trim around it with your fingers and then removing the mounting screws. Disconnecting the battery just requires a 10mm wrench to loosen the negative terminal.
