I don't know what people are thinking when they do this. Usually guarantees the car's death.

When I used to work at a dealership, I once saw a Mercedes Benz S-Class come in after splashing through maybe 6-10" of water. Basically a big puddle. Diagnosis? Totaled engine. You know how much an S-class engine freakin costs?

As we all know of course, the S-Class isn't built nearly as well as the Yaris. Sadly, it's remarkably true when it comes to reliability.

I wonder what their plant in Alabama was like when first part was built? Now, it is amazing (something to see). However, the first cars built there had a LOT of problems. Fewer robots? Processes (including human) just needed refining over time? Some of each?
