I've been running R81 Immola wheels in the summer for the last year or so without rings and have no issues to report. I use the Gorilla style spline nuts that came with my TireRack wheels as well. CTScott probably has the best solution for avoiding possible problems, though.

Running R81 mini wheels as well with the lug nuts that CTScott linked, 60+ vibration was very noticeable and at 75+ it felt like a jackhammer. After installing the 56.1->54.1 hub rings, its smooth sailing up to 100mph at least.

centering rings
I would suggest everybody to not bother ordering centering rings.
http://www.hubcentric-rings.com/ 56.1-54.1 rings are fragile and break easily (shatter) when fitting wheels. I have ran different mini wheels so far and have relied on centering feature of standard taper nuts. One word of caution if you're considering extended tip conical wheel nuts. I believe available tips (extending below the taper) are mostly imperial. Never could find one which would fit (and center) metric bore openings of mini wheels. Thus my use of plain standard taper nuts. PS: tires fitted are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, 500 treadwear, asymetric tread pattern, side-to-side rotation is allowed as they are not directional (permits rotation in a criss-cross fashion). PS2: true winter tires are a must (and mandatory) in Quebec; these A/S tires are only used during other three seasons. |

Stock lug nuts with no spacers. Rides good no vibrations.

Stock lug nuts work, but I would not want to run them for very long. Mini lugbolts (shown below) are 14mm (versus our 12 mm lugs), so there is quite a bit of slop to the holes, which results in a significant portion of our OEM lugnut taper sitting in the hole.
Mini lug bolt.jpg The lugnuts which I referred to in the link in post #2 above are shown below. They have a much larger tapered section than our stock lugnuts and the "bulge" fills the 14mm to 12mm gap. They were difficult to find since, as mentioned above, most conical bulge lugnuts are not metric.

The picture that I posted is with stock lug nuts but I ride after market acorn style lugs I got from ebay, I don't know if the ones I posted are the right size but it's that style . And some recent pics with the new wing.
