You guys are getting ignition timing and valve timing confused. VVT-i is VALVE timing.

The knock sensor is there to retard IGNITION timing if it senses knock. You don't want to be moving the sensor around. That is about the stupidest thing you could do.

Theoretically, yes the guy is right, but if there is no knock, then you will run the maximum ignition advance anyway, so moving the sensor is pointless.

If you do knock, the sensor sees it and pulls the ignition timing back to protect the motor. If you move the sensor, then you keep knocking, and start eating away at your pistions. But you gained 2 HP while you did it. Hooray for dumb.
