Bronsin lives in New Jersey. Not a thing that many Canadians would probably know, but the State of New Jersey does not allow customers to pump their own fuel. I know, it is a ridiculous regulation . My understanding is that the primary reason this regulation is still in place is desire to prevent the unemployment rate from increasing. There is one other U.S. state that has the same regulation.....Oregon. A motel owner from Medford, Oregon told me this regulation stays in place in Oregon for the same reason I stated re New Jersey.

I won't be moving to NJ. I like to pump my own gas. I don't overfill it or get any on the paint. I'm a "shaker." It's just my nature.

Me neither.

I do as well. The no self pump policy in New Jersey drives me nuts. On my last 'car' visit in 2013, IIRC I gave up playing 'start pumping myself because I have 'non northeast' plates and I don't know any better' guy . Instead I tried to time my gas needs so that I could fill up in NY State (even though it cost more), CT, or (even better (cheaper)...when leaving the area) eastern PA near the NJ border.

Parts of New Jersey are quite beautiful...and they do have WAWA (the best convenience stores in the country....only in 6 states)...but I would never want to live there. The cold winters, insane population density in many places, the way things are structured (insanely small, inefficient, revenue gouging fiefdoms the likes of which I have not seen in other states), the exorbitant taxes, and...the gas pumping policy ...would drive me nuts (no offense intended to Bronsin...the pics he's posted of his vehicles + bikes...a pretty area ). My next door neighbor is a 'NJ refugee' , as is my next door neighbor across the short side street.
