No no no. The AUX105 cables you can find on eBay are all shit and need to be rewired to actually work. If you can find one elsewhere that is more likely to work, buy two, I'll take one. To have full iPod functionality, including music info display and control, you'll need the Eclipse iPC-107p adapter cable. Plugs in the rear of the unit, and has a 30pin connector on the other end. If your iPod is newer than 2007-ish, you'll also need a Scosche Passport adapter.
In fact, OP, check underneath the cover in the center, under the parking brake. There might already be such a cable installed by the previous owner. That's where mine lives and where the iPod is hidden, too. The USB port only does memory sticks (and maybe some MP3 players?), and it's also just a slow USB1.1 port, meaning if you plug in a flash drive with lots of music, by the time it's done indexing it, you have arrived at your destination. |
