No lights on air conditioning switch at night

Hi, When I was driving on night, I found there are no lights on these air conditioning switch. see the photo I linked.

Is this normal? Or, those lights on these switches are broken.
Because it's not quite convenient when i was driving and need to tune those switch.

Thanks

Check the position of your dimmer rheostat (the knob by your left knee).

Then, something must be broken.

I tuned the dimmer rheostat, there're still no light. And the light on the dashboard doesn't change too

If the brightness of the instrument cluster lights does not change when you adjust the dimmer rheostat, then either your headlights are not on (the headlight switch needs to be on to trigger the illumination of the AC knob lights) or the dimmer rheostat is bad or unplugged.

Hi, Thanks for your response.

At the second I saw your comment, I went to the car and tried again. It still doesn't work and seems like the dimmer rheostat is bad or unplugged. I want to fix this, is this expensive? Or I can repair by myself?

Do you see the headlight indicator light come on on the cluster?

For checking the rheostat you can open and remove the little storage cubby on the lower left of the dash. Once you do that you can reach in and verify that the connector is plugged in.

Yes, I can see headlight indicator light when I opened the headlight on night. Does this mean something?

It means that the signal is being fed to the dimmer to tell it to go into night mode.

That the problem is with the rheostat or its wiring.
