yes, synthetic oil should prevent or slow ring deposits.

not really, it burns much less gasoline compared to other oil burning toyota cars (i personally had an oil burning corolla, LOL).

now, 3rd gen prius is speced for 0W20 synthetic oil. i suspect some places cheated and used dino instead. mine doesn't burn oil.
