Highline is referring to the VW Sportwagen.

Back to the original question. It's a tough call. Only you know what condition your Echo is in. I know how much you love the NCP/1NZ platform, and I also know how itchy you can get for changing things up. If Echo powertrain, drivetrain, and body are relatively solid I say keep it.

The echo is in good shape but as you know, I'm in a condo now and it's a challenge to do any of my own work. I'm thinking a new car with warranty might alleviate some inconvenience associated with an old car breaking down.

And currently I don't think I'd have an issue selling the echo saftied and etested for what I've paid for it

I like the Mazda 2 very nice little car for a low cost plus toyota wheels are a direct fit lol well yaris wheels.

As much as i would love a new car i hate monthly payments and one reason i will not get one myself unless i have cash in hand ...just my opinion .

So in the end its all about affordability

Sounds like a good deal but i'd wonder why this car has been sitting on the dealers lot for the best part of 3 years.

2 is unpopular with its small size and low power....and its a manual

and really, i can't find it for sale anywhere...so lack of advertising?

Last year, with the 2016s rolling out, a buddy of mine hit mid-life crisis and got a chubby for a Camaro. He walked the lot at the local GM dealership and spotted a BNIB 2014 RS toward the back. IIRC he got it for something like $12K off list.

Same thing as thebarber. No advertising what-so-ever. It's almost like forgotten inventory waiting for the lucky individual who happens upon it.
