Stay away from the stealership.
 Cost wise it makes sense for me. I get 4 litres of Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic 5w30A5 for anywhere between £18 - £24 and I buy Mann oil filters when there is a discount for about £6 each. When pushed to 10,000 miles plus a couple litres top up between. Plus my time to do it. I'd say synthetic is cheaper than doing conventional oil and the filter every 3000 miles. I honestly can't say i know anyone who uses dino oil except for classic cars or an ocassional old banger on its last MOT. Maybe if you do lower mileages it would be ok. I did 30,000 miles last year.
