Either the batteries in the sensors go flat, or the owner has separate sets of wheels and tyres for Summer and Winter.

I replced the wheels and tires, and want to sell the stock alloys with the TPMS still in them.

On the 2nd gen cars, there is a wire that can be spliced into another wire that will defeat the TPMS warning permanently.

I used that hack on my 2nd gen car and I'm asking if that same fix will work on the 3rd gen cars.

Once you put the right amount of air into the tube, the TPMS will still read the correct tire pressure, but it'll be from the tube. Then you throw it someplace in the truck and the system will be tricked into thinking the the sensors are in the tire. You can swap wheels and tires to your hearts desire at that point. It's just another work around, if someone chooses to do it that way.
