All IASCA judging should be done at a 90dB reference.

MECA has no limit.

Do you experience break up at higher volumes?

Good tips, thank you.

Well when I crank all the way up above comfort level you can tell very easy when the subwoofer stops been musical.

That's the trade off. Small format woofers, and especially the ISW's, power handling and suspension travel is limited compared to larger woofers.

I still contend that they'd be used well as mid woofers in doors more readily than subwoofers.

Enjoy the day! Relax...

Let's all talk about the observations after your 1st place trophy. :)

Did these people even give you a score in the IASCA format? I take it you were in Amateur SQc.

You should be in the Rookie or Amateur class...

...Amateur because of the pillar work, the sub location & the fact that you did everything yourself...

I could load up a crap ton of pictures from competition as well...

Quick note:

I installed my new little setup this afternoon, a Sony XAV 701HD, My "old" sub (ID8 v3), two Hertz Deici coaxials for now, and two PPI Phantom amps. Sounds decent for the time invested.

I have the "in" (as it were) on my hot rod project. It seems that history is repeating for me. My close friend wants to sell me his 2004 SRT-4. It's a really nice piece with LOTS of money invested (especially on the suspension). I get it for a grand bargain. The price he's selling it to me will allow room for a 50 trim setup with fuel, oil, and cooling mods. I'll leave it at this, I expect 400+ HP within a year on pump gas...it will only be driven once every so often, so I'm not worried about running costs, seeing as I have the ever reliable Yaris to fill the daily driving role.

I want to get the trim in the trunk finished before I start taking pics...

If you remember those giant amplifiers I used to run, I've turned that amp tray into a collar for the air tank and compressors. I need to adjust the piece a little and then get the cover to fit...and then place the side panels.

Give me a week or so. I'll get some prettier pics to happen.

Ok, it's been almost a week and I don't have my score sheets or anything else, I'm going to start making phone calls and sending emails.

But first I would like to say... I"M HAPPY!!!

in Total 14 hour round trip, with my lovely wife and our 2 kids (6 and 2.5 years old) inside the Yaris and just to accomplish that it's a miracle that everybody was happy at the end of the trip.

Yes I came back so HAPPY! very Happy, it wasn't about the score or a 1st or 2nd place! or a trophy like sqcomp offered to me.

I didn't wanted to start telling you the story before I had the score sheets in my hands to go over in detail on each fact.

Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow I'm going with or without score sheets I'm going to write my story.

I can tell you now that I'm a happy guy and very proud because I found what I was looking for.

But for now I want you guys to see this picture below and just think about it,
Here is the picture.

D.

ps... here are some more pictures of the event....

The orange FIT belongs to Julian Ridi form Canada. Heavier set chap who likes to wear a visor with troll hair (at least he did at SBN/INAC 2012). He's a bit of a tool, but that's my oh so humble opinion. I've had some interesting experiences with him and his lack of candor.

The DLS vehicle there is interesting with the angles of the tweeters. I like the bold attempt. I'm seeing his rather high mounting of said tweeters. This shows me that he's trying to gain height on the stage. If his stage is low, it's probably a crossover issue with his mid bass. I'm finding that the best response with midrange is coming from dash mounting aiming into the glass (stock xB and Camry mount points). The best imaging seems to come from pillar mounted midranges...

Of course this all depends on the tune.

The Ford with the planar/ribbon tweeters in the pillars should be at least a Pro class in IASCA car because of the intensive work on the dash mounted sub.

Derick...I'm telling you. The lack of a scoresheet is disturbing. You paid to be judged by a sanctioning body and received nothing to show for it. I know what should have been done. I've had to do this before at the shows I put on. As soon as you mentioned that you had to leave, I would have had the head judge tally your points and show you your scoresheet. Then, I would have made sure your e-mail address was on the scoresheet so that the minute I had the official results, you would have received an e-mail informing you of your placement with the very least, a scanned copy of your scoresheet. This would have been done within two hours of the close of the show.

PERIOD! There is NO room for interpretation. This is the right and ethical thing to do. It's unfortunate that it isn't happening like that.

All of this comes from me though...I'm the one that had Moe Sabourin (IASCA President), Travis Chin (IASCA event head judge), Jim Hergesheimer (shop owner) and myself hand sign EVERY certificate to those who entered the show. It displayed their points or dB levels with an official IASCA logo and dB Drag logo. It was also done on heavy card stock (certificate paper). Heck, my certificates were more sturdy than the one I received from the 5th SF group in Iraq...

I'm also here to tell you that signing your name 50 times is a drag!

I don't mess around with my shows. It unfortunately isn't a universal feeling of responsibility to the competitors apparently.
