Been googling screw sizes for license plates and it looks like American cars use 1/4" screws and I've been seeing 6mm and 6.3mm for Japanese (Toyota, Nissan, etc.) cars.

Guys, the 48 LED board will NOT fit into the trunk area!!! Check my orignal post.

There is only 2cm x 4.5 cm worth of space. I cut a cardboard template of each light board before I ordered, based on the specs supplied form VLEDS. The 30 LED board is rectangular and will fit the trunk light housing. The 48LED is square and impossible to fit. The 48 LED board fits perfectly into the cabin light area, which has excess space to spare with a 7.5cm x 4.5 cm housing (approximately).

Some late night photography! Sorry for my crappy night pics... no tripod. Picures can only show so much. These lights really brighten up the cabin. I can actually see the floor and back seat area, with no shadows or ugly yellow. The white color is consistent with amongst all VLED lights, for all cabin, map, and trunk lighting.

Interior map (2 x 11 LED 194 bulbs) and cabin (1 x 48 LED board)...

More pics of the trunk using the 30 LED board. No more ugly, dim, warm white/yellow incandescent bulbs!!!

Yes, the 48 LED board fits into the DOME light (that is the one that goes off and on with the door opening). Naturally the board doesn't fit into the bracket where the festoon was. You have to run the dummy-festoon and wiring to the power clips, then mount the LED board somewhere in the plastic housing of the dome light.

I've received my LEDs from V-LEDs just then and installed! I've to say "This is Awesome! Extremely Bright and just fit except for Number Plate (11 LED 194 bulbs) :( A little bit long but still managed to install into it.

That's like saying almost pregnant. :)

Vleds are awesome, and the shipping is quite fair, especially when you use the discount coupon.

For both, you will need a very small flat head screw driver.

The map light covers can be removed by placing the screw driver in the center gap, in between the pair. Then press towards the outside, away from the centre. Each of the covers are on 2 small pop-off hinges, located at each corner nearest the center. It might help if you move the screw driver towards one of the hinges, while keeping it in the center gap, then apply the pressure towards the outside, as mentioned.

The trunk light is held on by a plastic clip, under the grey plastic of the interior. Itcan be popped off by inserting the screw driver on the front edge of the light housing and lifting upward and out.

thanks! i'm also wondering if the screwdriver will scratch the grey plastic if i apply too much pressure. i actually tried to do that to my trunk light with the screwdriver i use for my computer screws, but was afraid i might break the clips or scratch the interior.

If you're careful, it shouldn't scratch. Good idea about the credit card, but I am not sure how much leverage you can get from that. Plus, I am not sure the credit card is a Genuine Toyota Approved technique (inside joke!).

Try using a credit card to pry it out.
