The aFe is a nice replacement for the stock box, keeps the filter protected while increasing airflow.

My air filter off the turbo is way down towards the bottom of the engine. We will probably re-route the piping when we put her back in the shop -- made me nervous on the way to work today.

With regards to water in the motor being dangerours, aren't there water injection systems? someone 'splain that, please.

i thought water injection just sprayed a mist on an intercooler to help cool the air down even more....

if your filter was drenched, thatd explain the bogging

dryflow ftw? lol

id put the fender liner back in or get a short ram intake.....stock airbox for now

i cant belive youd run a cai with no fender liner though....yeesh

if the filter is soaked, it'll struggle to draw air through it. it'll struggle, but it won't hurt it.
if the filter is completely submerged in water, that's when you're in trouble. trimming the fender liner will get the filter soaked, but it doesnt make a difference for hydrolock.

You can make a hole on the stock air box if you want to make it loud. The hole needs to be on the bottom half. That is what i did to my airbox looks stock but sounds quite mean and I am using the paper filter.

For one, Water injection works very well especially in forced induction engines. The thing that you are most likely getting is that you have gotten the MAF sensor wet and if you have a K&N style oiled filter have transferred some of that oil onto the sensor which is very sensitive.

What people fail to realize for every gallon of gas you burn you vehicle produces up to or more than that amount in water on it's own. It's part of internal combustion, and is no big secret. People tend to say all these crazy things about water simply because they do not know the chemistry behind internal combustion. If they did they would stop getting suckered into HHO generators

Even a stock Yaris could handle a .50gph water injection nozzle and would run just fine. This is coming from someone who knows a little about alcohol/water injection. Turbo it and water injection is a great way to go.

atomized water will not cause issues..

but water sucked off the ground is not atomized...

You can clean your MAS by shooting some "Brakleen" on it. If the MAS has oil on it from the air filter it can affect performance.

BRAKLEEN is simply awful to be spraying on plastic parts... use soap and water

you get condensation in oil from hot engine cooling in cold weather and collects in pan . Thus , oil looses some performance .

now for a complete change of pace. How much do you want for that dead parrot you have there. Yes the One with its feet stapled to the perch. Very, very NICE, but a bit smelly, aint She?

On yet another subject, mr GID, I thought that the piston blowby water vapour condensed into the cold oil. If the oil was above boiling for a goodly period, all the H-O-H will have evapourated off and suctioned by the PCV sytem. Now, there would be none left to condense onto cold metal.

It was a (very bad) backward spin on part of the sketch, but of course, M.P. was M-U-C-H better. Also, "ARGUMENTS" and the exploding penquin on the telie.

cool about finding that
