Well pip, I am still waiting for the 3rd time for Hertz to get the title signed in the right place for Kentucky. They have FedEx'd paperwork to me twice already and it's been wrong when I went to the clerk's office. We are getting our own plate...IF we can get a title that can be transferred. Hopefully the 3rd time will be the charm.

as long as its in good shape I wouldnt hesitate to buy a rental yaris. if it does break out of warranty these cars are cheap to fix the only thing I could see getting damaged by beating the tar out of it would be the transmission.

Well, my son will be getting his first car in a few months, and if mine works out I will likely steer him in the same direction I went.

Congratulations and don't worry about it. You got factory warranty on it, and it's a Toyota. enjoy! :D
I would have done the same thing, in fact I did look for a while at the local rental agencies' offerings but I wanted a manual so that didn't work for me. Price seems relatively decent to me. I bought mine used, too, with a 55K miles on it and not a single problem, knock on wood. Sure, you can probably always find a better deal if you keep looking [I probably could have gotten a new one if I had waited, since they didn't have 0% financing and sales when I bought mine) but in the meantime while you take your time deciding, you don't have a car... So, eventually you have to decide on something. Congrats and good luck with your new car :) |

Thanks tomato. A big key for me was price. I don't finance. I hate payments and swore I would never be shackled by those again. In feeling the way I do, that means I have to find a car that fits within the range of dollar bills I have in hand. I would never have wanted any sort of new car because of the value dropping, and have always bought cars at least a couple of years old. We bought our Avalon with 53,000 miles on it in 2001 and my daughter still drives it...and it runs fine. She got it with 196,000 miles on it. With tax and license our Yaris went just a hair over $11k, but that was expected.
I love the car, and especially since it still has that new car smell...I feel like we're the first people to ever own it. :)
