All car prices are way too high. They always will be. We aren't going to return to the times of $2500 cars. get over it.

I love the fisher price interior. Things are easy to take out, play with, put back together, modify, and generally have fun with. Try doing that in a luxury car.

If you want to have fun and get great gas mileage, buy a yaris.

If you are a stuck up snob who thinks image is important, look somewhere else, preferably down the business end of a gun as you pull the trigger.

Well I guess that means only 2 since it's hard to criticize a side airbag. They're pretty damn useful. But still. ABS and traction control are computers attemping to make up for american's inability to sufficiently operate the cars they own. I don't blame Americans though because even a mentally handicapped person who can't speak english can pass the driver's test sadly.

At least the waterpump is covered under warranty. I am driving a 2003 Echo with 316K miles on it. I don't see a lot of other makes with that many miles that still drive good, much less perfect. My car drives AWESOME!!! Brakes are good, steering is good, heater is good, A/C is good, engine is good, tranny is good, ... it's an all around great car.

Yes, only one thing going wrong is excellent reliability. And one thing in a Yaris is unusual. Most people are repair free. The water pump seems to be that one thing but has affected very few among all owners. The two highest mileage members here at 420,000 and 200K+ miles are both on the original water pump. And they each have had only one or two minor repairs.

People seem to write the Yaris off if they have one rare issue. Try owning a Chrysler or German car. You'd end up in a mental institution.

I am perfectly happy with the acceleration of my Yaris and its automatic! When I got the car I thought the interior was sumptous. Does any other car have the interior storage space the Yaris has? At ANY price? No!

Thank you Krolos for posting this. I'm currently car shopping and have been strongly considering the Yaris as my next car. The link provided helped support one of my concerns with the Yaris which was maintenance, one of my old high school friends works as a mechanic and spoke VERY poorly about the Yaris, but I understand thats specifically the only car he works on for Toyota so I think he's got a biased view on the matter. Never the less, very helpful link thank you.

Huh, what's this mechanic thinking? The Yaris is the most trouble free car in history. We have a member, for example, that has gone 420,000 miles with only one minor repair.

50+K on my '08 sedan. It's never seen the dealership since I drove it away on day 1. No need.
I do my own regular maintenance and had zero warranty claims.
Short of tire changes and the alignment rack (after my TRD suspension install) it's never seen a shop.

Point is, is that the Yaris never needs repairs. Unless he sees a lot of Yaris's with 150K, 200K, 300K, ect...Which there isn't many yet.

Hey RualStorge , the shop might have designated Techs for different
models, If you friend is designated to the Yaris he probably ends
up sweeping the floor a lot and doing other grunt jobs simply because they
don't get many Yari in need of repair, but mostly oil changes, maybe that
is why he is a little frustrated and then he speaks bad about the Yaris?
but once he moves up to the more complicated Lexus he will be
a lot more busy.

Numb? Oh wow, the electric steering has to be my favorite thing about the car.

I know it sounds silly, but I have to wonder what kind of driving feel people are looking for. After driving a short wheel base Jeep for 12 years, I'm kind of glad I don't have to feel every nuance of the road and on the opposite side of the spectrum it's nice be free of floaty luxury car or modern truck suspensions.

I don't know, but I like the stock Yaris suspension, it just seems balanced to me ... but there's always the plethora of aftermarket modifications.
