soo your manifold is off a 1zz drive by cable? If we got hold of the dbw 1zz with the 4 bolt throttle body, would we just need the mounting flange only?

Yes. It's off of an 1998-2003 Toyota Corolla 1.8L 1ZZ-FE engine with a 3 bolt cable operated throttle body.

Not entirely true: the Corolla 4-bolt TB is the same mounting pattern, just with a larger diameter hole/valve.

![]() The manifold is still in two pieces. First it needs to be welded, then glass beaded, then hot tanked, then I need to fabricate a custom intake for it before I can even begin to think about running the engine. |

scroll back everyone, there is a pool for your guesses on horsepower and torque changes (gain or loss)... with a prize.

![]() ...but I just can't skip welding and hot tanking, because the old manifold is absolutely filthy inside, and I'm not going to risk wrecking a brand new engine. The same place that does the welding also happens to do glass beading. |

I believe the engine gets connected to the driveline on the Prius and is used to directly propel the car in addition to the electric motor (as opposed to only charging the batteries).

That I didn't know... that definitely makes it easier to increase the engine's efficiency.

Same here. I had no idea that the engine was actually connected to the driveline. That manifold configuration is exactly the same as I've seen on stationary industrial engines that operate at a "fixed" rpm.
Do you know that when it's running is it propelling the car concurrently with the electric motor? 1200 to 5000 means that it is never idling, but is always under a load. |

The manifold pieces went to the welder today, and I'll have it back at the end of this week. I undercut the two inside port edges with a Dremel and they turned out just fine.
Getting closer to dyno time... so you guys had better get your HP/TQ guesses in.
