Anyway, you are paying for the bling bling "exotic" material for a weapon r manifold.
They could have kept cost down, at least get from profit for making an affordable manifold made of common material =P
They're certainly nice looking...

WeSellCarParts.com sells them for $510, and they're on ebay for only $504.

I'm afraid to ask tooter what he spent so far!

Just did a price sensitive search and found that Ebay seller...

tunedcustoms

...is currently selling them for only $460 +$9 shipping. They have sold one so far and have more than 10 available for sale. In fact, there are quite a few xB manifold sellers on ebay.

You were right about there not being much of an aftermarket manifold market. Looks like the prices have been dropping significantly.

Oh man, this is killing me...

There is no way to shorten the intake enough to use the BLOX velocity stack with its 7 inch tall filter...

They don't make shorter filters that have a 6 inch opening. The other options are getting a cold air intake, or going with some shorter filter with no velocity stack.

Can anyone offer any suggestions on a decent 2 1/2" inlet dry filter that's 5 inches tall?

I'm even thinking of cutting off the top of the Blox filter and gluing on a plastic lid to make it work. I really don't want to give up the velocity stack as it does a beautiful job of smoothing the airflow to the MAF even though it's right on top of it.

edit: Hey wait... I think I know what to do!

If I glue a 6 inch diameter plastic ring onto the skirt of the velocity stack, I can collapse the whole assembly a couple of inches into the filter. :thumbsup" I only need it to be 2 inches shorter as I gained about a half an inch with a smaller coupler.

You may be able to shorten the outlet of the stack a little bit to shove the maf pipe in the coupler a little deeper

It won't shorten it enough, and I don't want to mess with the stack itself because it works so well as it is. However, being able to shove the stack up into the interior of the filter a couple of inches will work because the filter is already so large. I only need to find a short scrap of plastic tubing with an outside diameter of exactly 6 inches and I have it made.

This has to be resolved, as a working filter is essential for the dyno run. And I definitely do not want to lose the velocity stack because that would be making two changes, and not just the manifold as the only change.

If you don't mind using the k&n brand , I can give you the part number ... I believe mine is 4" taller with the 6" opening inlet .

And if you need to retrofitted any CAI , my AEM CAI is still available for sale :)

Thanks for the offer...
...but I want to stay away from oily filters and live in an area that is subject to flooding in winter, and so want to avoid putting a filter down in the fenderwell. I'm going to go for the 6 inch plastic sleeve added to the skirt of the velocity stack. That way I will be able to retain both the filter and the stack, and simply collapse one into the other until it's short enough to fit.

I don't want to break the rule of making the manifold be the only change, so that the dyno runs will reflect only the difference in manifolds and nothing else.

use a different filter first, then take out the headlight and fit the Blox setup just for the dyno? Or, change that silicone coupler to a 90 degree one so you could aim the filter downward and gain a little bit of space?

Hey, thanks TiM...

That might just be the ticket.

I'll try holding the air filter vertically to check the downward clearance. If it clears, I'll simply get a 90 and resolve the whole issue. Maybe even a 45 would work.

BINGO.

Checked the clearance, and a 45 degree silicone elbow will angle it down quick enough to fit the whole filter/velocity stack assembly just as it is. Just ordered one off ebay. $15 and a few days I'm back in business.

TiM, you're a lifesaver! It's funny how other people can see such easy simple solutions because they are looking at things from a slightly different "angle". The solution is literally an angle!

or a smaller battery, which won't affect a dyno. I made space that way.

Does AFE make a 5 inch tall dry filter with a 6 inch inlet?

That's the beauty of forums like this... shared experience.
I changed my order to a 90 degree coupling like yours just to make sure that it will fit. What an elegantly simple solution. Thanks, man!
