There are a lot of stupid and pointless laws out there.

I am for tint laws, within reason. I don't think that 5% tint should ever be legal. 20% is the darkest I think should be legal on a regular vehicle. Why?

1. It IS harder to see at night (I have 20%, and I without a doubt can tell a difference)
2. Police DO have to worry about their safety ALL the time; not being able to see in a vehicle when pulling someone over IS a concern.
3. 20% is plenty dark enough to keep thugs from seeing in your car while driving, and as a girl who drives around alone a lot, I get added comfort in knowing they can't see me
4. The UV rays are blocked well before you throw 20% on your windows

I just don't think that limo tint is attractive, and there is no point of having windows if they are so f'n dark you can't see out or in them at all. It's ridiculous.

Just my .02

Oh, and tinting your windshield is retarded.

Absolutely no arguing with that But unfortunately it's not our call to choose which laws we like and obey and which we don't. One of the basic reasons our society works is because it's based on laws. Anarchy doesn't serve any good. Revolution, now that's a different story

you should read exactly what your state stature says. In missouri were required to have 2 plates on our cars but it says something to the effect of being afixed to the front of the vehicle, not specifically mounted to the bumpers. so i have my wedged on my dash. it can b seen from the front of vehicle. our tint law is written funny as well.

Damn, I guess I hit a few nerves...all I was complaining about was the amount of the fine, and the ridiculous court fee that's actually more than the fine. I'm all about there being laws as long as there's reasons for them, but on a law that has reasons that are obviously bullshiit and when they figure so many people are gunna break it that they try to make an "example" by charging outrageous amounts in fines for it...that's what I'm disagreeing with.

I think it's ridiculous that different states have different rules and regulations, (don't worry it happens here in Australia too) Road rules and registration requirements should be uniform so that a car that is legal in one state is legal in all states...

Since you're not an American, you probably don't understand the importance of state's rights in this country. It is guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment of our Bill of Rights, which restates the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states by the constitution of the United States are reserved to the states or the people. It is similar to an earlier provision of the Articles of Confederation: "Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled. It makes explicit the idea that the federal government is limited only to the powers granted in the Constitution, is generally recognized to be a truism in this country. It is complex, but serves as the foundation of our government and is intended to maintain a balance of power...

Consider the right to own firearms in this country. It is supported by the Second Amendment of our Constitution, but it is up to each individual state to determine the extent of that right. Some states such as Texas, Florida and Arizona are pretty adherent, other such as NY or California are very stringent. That allows people to decide where they want to live based on the government that best aligns itself to their beliefs. As an adamant collector, I could not live in states where such strict limitations are placed on gun ownership; but those who feel opposite of that can choose to live in such a place that supports those beliefs.

However, as mentioned earlier there is reciprocity amongst the states, more so for thing such as driving and somewhat for things like concealed carry. As such, as I stated with a vehicle you only have to comply with the laws of the state in which it is registered. However, when driving in another state you have to follow their transportation code for things such as speed limits and other laws.

Tint Law = bullshit - another way to suck citizens blood and hard working moneys.
If you want to kill somebody you will do it.
Normal Peoples don't go and waste their moneys to get their window tinted then go and kill somebody.

"Normal Peoples" don't go around killing folks, period.

Watch the cop car camera videos on Tru TV for a while. You can't tell what people may do.

incorrect

if you want to save your 'hard working moneys' (as you put it)
don't put ridiculous tint on your car and don't break the law

I know this doesn't apply to the OP as he bought his car that way, but you do see a lot of people around here put in ridiculous stereos, window tint, fart cans, etc, just to complete that whole gangsta look.

Well, duh. Paying hard working money to outfit your car and make yourself look like a dealer and then wondering why you get a ticket when the law is there to protect officers from people transporting illegal substances that don't like getting pulled over is just silly.

It's not just the gangsta wannabes either, a lot of people make very expensive mods to trucks that they never take off road for that monster truck look and then get pissed when they can't pass inspection.

LoL

I tend to agree, though a lot of them seem pretty normal. Society frowns on that kind of behavior, at any rate.

I'm starting to think that the high fines are so that ppl won't retint. When I got my back 3 done, the shop was doing driver and passenger windows left and right. They said they remove and reapply all the time. Maybe if they layered the fine like cellphones and seatbelts, that fine'd be cut in half. That's what I'd tell the judge, might agree and reduce your fine.

In the county in which I live window tint tickets that get faught in court often get dropped, especially if the person who got the ticket is willing to remove the tint.

At Zaphod's post...
When the guy pulled me over he took my license and registration, and then proceeded to walk around my car and look in the windows. After he gave me the ticket I asked if I had to take all the tint off and he said, which surprised me by the way since up here we have some stereo and sub laws too, "No you only have to remove the front windows. Normally you'd have to remove it all, but I noticed you have some nice SUBS (he said subs) back there. You shouldn't really have to worry about anyone wanting to steal them around here though." Fucked up man...My tint in the back was darker than the front and isn't that where most of my "illegal substances" or weapons would be sitting were I to have them? It's just weird. Oh yeah and I was going 80mph in a 65, but I think I crossed jurisdictions right as I sped up so he couldn't get me on that.
