Depends on what you consider negative. Speeding tickets may increase if you're not careful; wheelspin on takeoff; passenger discomfort/anxiety; ear-to-ear grin every time you push the accelerator; delusions of formula one; etc.

Negative effect to gas mileage - some. If you are "cheap", you'll be more turned off by the fact you need to run premium gas. No more 87 octane.
