...and the Tacoma hits the dyno next week if I can find the free time.
I already did the baseline dyno, so the next one will be with the tooter II.VII.

On the dyno, the tooter et didn't perform any better than the regular tooter, but it didn't perform any worse either. With 111hp and 105tq the graphs are basically the same. So for all my tinkering around, I didn't actually change anything!

thanks for the data...

Tooter, please remind us. How do your fully modded figures compare with "bone stock"?

Thanks, Doug

Here's bone stock dyno runs from the dyno chart sticky thread:

The results.

Stock:

91hp

91tq

Tooter:

111hp

105tq

So with:

Intake
Throttle body
Intake manifold
Header
Axle back exhaust

I have 22% more horsepower, and 15% more torque with the stock ECU, no tuning, and regular 87 octane pump gas. Latest gasoline fillup today: 39.4 mpg.

Total cost: $1,350

I'd also add that none of these modifications has altered the basic reliability economy or longevity of the engine. My wife's car is still just a regular daily driver that always needs to be in service.

Now it's just way more fun to drive...

That's impressive considering you haven't modified any electronics and let the stock ECU make any corrections.

Tooter, I really plan on coming up in the next 2 wks or so. I'd like to meet up and talk with you about my ideas for my 1NZ-FXE. It includes a few items like the ones below...

While it's disappointing to see that there isn't an appreciable improvement, it's certainly unique. Have you considered changing the runner length on a "standard" tooter for comparison?

The other side is that there isn't any appreciable loss either, so it's break even. The et wasn't intended for sale anyways as it takes way too much work to build one. It was just to satisfy my own curiosity.

Yes, I'm considering longer runners and also a larger plenum using the et as a test bed for further experiments. This stuff is as addictive as crack. You're always asking yourself... well, what else can I do?

That bone stock dyno chart is not your car, correct? There will be natural variation in that number (note the 93 degree temps for example, warm day!) You've been a big proponent of posting charts for the same car, under the same conditions, on the same dyno, which are awesome when someone bothers to do it, as you have.

The before and after tooter dynos were especially helpful.

Tooter, how did you get the car to rev to 6500? I thought stock rev limit (as shown on the stock dyno) was 6250.

I'm also not sure the difference between SAE and STD smoothing -- anyone know?

The stock rev limiter is 6,500rpm.

I would like to know how you have come to this conclusion? I wouldn't go totally off the tach that you are showing if that is your evidence. I have had several dyno runs and the software logging without a shadow of a doubt that 6250 is indeed where the stock ECU begins to force the AFR into a serious lean condition which is how Toyota actually "rev" limits as opposed to other methods.

The stock rev limiter on my 2012 cuts off at 6,600.

I picked the other dyno run because it had higher results than this one, but since you asked, here's a stock dyno run from the same shop and the same dyno machine.

With the stock engine making 106 at the output shaft, 15 horsepower in drive train losses seems to be the norm.
I believe that the first two charts are of auto transmissions, so manual transmissions would naturally have less drivetrain losses. So you can spot them a few more horsepower if they were manuals.

Interestingly enough, we had the same issue with information dropping out on the graphs, but resolved it by grounding the chassis to a bolt in the concrete floor.

Here's another with intake and exhaust mods for comparison.

These are all posted in the dyno thread sticky in this section. It's an interesting read.

Another tooter rolled off the assembly line...

It's available on ebay for $545 with free shipping.

The tooter Build Your Own Intake Manifold Kits are also available on ebay for $295 with free shipping...

It should be. The Prius engine operates within different parameters than the Yaris engine does.
