My re-evalutation of re-design.
Somewhere on the Yaris World last week, I said I hated the new 2012 exterior, especially the front end. After a week of Yaris-hunting on line and seeing some in person, my position has softened, and I think the new front end is OK after all. I still like the 2011 better, but the 2012 is growing on me. Sorry for first impressions being so wrong. Now, let's get a tach into the 3 door LE automatic, Toyota, and I'll buy one tomorrow. |

Yes,
Drove a 2010 w/ 40k and it wasn't for me,drove 2012 and bought it. It's more refind, quieter, smoother. My trade was a 93 Paseo w/200 k. The color is blue lagoon mica,3 dr LE,I tinted the windows, installed in-channel visors, and 15"sport ed cd's. The stock wheels and caps are for sale. I will also install SE front and rear bumper covers with fogs, or find a good aftermarket replacements. This will be the last new car I'll ever own. I've had around 400 cars in my life a 25 model t, a 59 fiat 500,a 72 gremlin,78 subaru brat,7 vw bugs, myers manx dune buggy,a 53 buick,a 54 chevy,a 67 chevy short wheel base van,a 01 mb commpressor conv.,a 86 cabriolet, and on, and on. When I first saw the '07 LB I wanted one. The new one has some improvements like more room and quietness but the new interior and exterior styling doesn't make me want one. Also the loss of the dash storage compartments and clever drink cooling and heating cup holders is a big loss. I also prefer the unique Prius like center Dash configuration that's easier to use than the one in the Mini. Sure the plastics of my car look cheaper but the dash wasn't cheap to design like some think. The new dash is unimaginative and boring. That's just my take on it. No doubt some will like these better.

Those other cars are also awesome. Quote:
I wanted that indestructible, proven, and economical drivetrain in a new, stylish hatchback with a sportier interior...and I got it! Thank you, Toyota! This would have been nice, also. But so far, the rear drums haven't given me any issues. Even while in the rain. |

I dig the new styling but I miss the quirkiness that was present in the prior Yaris and the old Echo. Interior is a HUGE improvement though. The new Yaris kind of reminds me of the direction Subaru is taking...departing from the unique and joining the masses with more crowd appealing style.
Not sure why people get their panties in a bunch over drum brakes. Yes they are an old technology and they don't look as cool but function wise they do very well in rear brake applications. I find they are also typically much cheaper to fix...for example a wheel cylinder for a drum brake is typically around $10 whereas a replacement caliper is usually more than quadruple that. I don't like it at all .... I'm so glad I got my 2010 when I did. I loved my 07, love my 2010 even more - and will not be buying another one after this :/

My neighbour has a new 5 door now, so I see it everyday. Aside from technical improvements, I think it's void of any personality and is an ugly car from every possible angle.

I just sat in the new 12 Yaris and really like the new dash and seating position..there is just a bit more leg room for me (deal breaker on old one) and I like the new dark and light thing with the seats. I had a Scion XB in the past and love the eonomy of a small car (traded for my not small FJ cruiser). I have a miata for fun but now thinking of selling to get the new yaris. I just dont understand the reasoning of not having an SE 5spd 3 door. I will buy a basic 5spd 3 door and mod the bat snot out of it i guess

well that might be the color I choose. I only just looked seriously at the car yesterday. My FJ is silver so i might not want another silver/gray.

There's no Yaris with perfect styling. The original Yaris face looks like a brat with a cold. The 2012 restyle has a pointy nose and pouty lower lip below the upper grill. The 2015 restyle has a hideous huge Halloween monster mouth . I liked the looks of my 96 Toyota Tercel the best, nice and simple. I love my 2014 Yaris, but laugh whenever I look at it's funny face.
