Have owned a Yaris for 7 Days
So, my Ford Ranger has been having issues and I urgently needed a reliable vehicle to do the 85km round trip to work and back.
Surprisingly SWMBO was urging me to get something new and I was looking at a new Honda Civic with all the bells and whistles. However, we already knew of a work mate of my wife who had a 2008 Yaris that was surplus to his needs which we had passed on a month or so back. Rather than get into debt right now I had a look at this little thing and decided mostly for economic reasons to buy it. The intention being to pass it on to my daughter next year when she gets her licence. It’s now been 7 days, and the likelyhood of this car going to my daughter next year is looking pretty shakey. I’ve never owned a car this small but I’ve quickly gained an appreciation for the build quality, fuel usage and simplicity of the Yaris. My eldest daughter drives an echo and always raves about it and I finally get it. If this one ends up with the other daughter I can see myself getting another one. Good decision mate. These cars are bomb proof. Easy enough to work on when they need servicing and repairs. Plenty of parts in the scrap yards, they have a few issues but for what they are i don't think you can complain.

Check the two front suspension bolts for corrosion. Probably not issue for you if they don’t salt roads there. That’s all the issues I can think of maybe others know of more?
Yes you have discovered the Yaris is a winner!

Title sounds like another wrecked car thread. Suggest something like "Have had a Yaris for 7 days."
Mind of Toyota: Note "simplicity" in this pleasantly surprised new owner's appreciated attributes. |

Yes, it may not be the flashest or fastest car on the road, but I still smile every time I drive my Yaris.
Spent a week on holidays recently driving the other family car, a Toyota Aurion (V6 Camry for those in other countries). I was glad to get home and back into the Yaris.

I know what you mean, the more I drive it the more I like it. I really thought of it as a temporary measure and was looking forward to a brand new car but now I can’t see myself moving it on in 12 months as originally planned. It’s not particularly fast but it still has enough go to be fun to drive, fits all my archery gear, is easier to park than the Ranger and is easier on the pocket.

What i like most about my Yaris, apart from the fact its never let me down in 8 years and its simplicity to work on is how comfortable it is to drive. I have driven a lot of other cars and despite some of them being very nice when i sit in my car its so fucking comfortable to drive.
I have spent 12-14 hours at the wheel in several cars and in mine it wasn't so bad. Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
