All Replaceable Fluids?
So I'm currently trying to replace all fluids on my 2007 hatchback, but I'm having trouble finding definite answers on which fluids the Yaris has and doesn't. Could use some help. Starting with the most obvious first:
- windshield washer fluid: whenever - engine oil: every 5K miles - coolant: flush/replace every ?? miles - break fluid: flush/replace every ?? miles - transmission fluid: flush/replace every ?? miles and then the more murky ones: - power steering fluid: Yaris does not have this, correct? - differential fluid: does Yaris have this? or does it share the fluid with the transmission and so is replaced when the tranny oil is replaced? - transfer case fluid: doesn't have this? - any other fluids? Thanks, guys! |

I'm at least as much of a novice as you, but here's what I can add:
Inspect your coolant every 18 months or 15,000 miles. The transmission fluid dipstick is small and slightly hidden. (This applies to automatic transmission fluid. Manual might be different.) Standing facing the engine bay, it's about a third of the way from the right side, close to the front fender, and down inside the engine bay about eight inches. Check the fluid while the car is warmed up and idling. The dipstick says the fluid should not be changed under normal use. But you can still use a paper towel to see whether it's a nice, bright color (good), or dull, or black (less good). Check it every 3 years or 30,000 miles. As far as I can tell, the Yaris does not have power steering fluid. It's an electric system. |
