I think you may be right. They even charge to dispose of brush (which they then run through a chipper and sell as mulch).

Id like the Curt hitch as well, but nobody Ive spoken with seems to know if it will work with my TRD cat-back exhaust. I could also consider one for my 09 Scion xD....also equipped with the TRD exhaust. Anyone? Also, what do you mean by "releasing two tabs"? And do they get re-attached?

The one I'll be dealing with in California charges $22.00 per cubic yard (with a minimum charge of $25.00 ) or between $78.00 and $83.75 per ton depending on the nature of the contents. Also set higher amounts for stoves, A/C units, TVs, CRTs, etc (at least they take TVs ). In 2009, it was a flat amount for access (a bit over $20.00)....at least for cars up to a Tundra sized pickup.

I guess its going to come to that here in NJ someday too.

Now I understand why I see dumpster sized piles of trash on the streets of Camden!

And then there is this guy HERE

And this HERE

My town mismanaged our landfill and contracted out the day to day operation to a big waste management firm years ago, and within no time there were trucks of waste skids coming in from NY, NJ, DE, MD etc. took 25 yrs. off the estimated useful life of the fill. Now closed.

We've have just implemented a "pay as you throw" scheme buying the city trash bage etc.

^^^^^ SMH. As much as I love Europe, I don't want bumbling bureaucrats here to 'nudge the U.S. toward a similar reality'.....uh, I mean nanny state .

I once carried a futon in the back of my liftback. I taco'd the mattress and tied it that way. all seats folded down. Got the job done

Thanks for sharing this. I've been trying to decide between the two style hitch receivers for some time. I'll likely get one early next month.
