Cheapest exhaust?

I'm looking for sound more than power without getting ricey. The Megan axle back runs $225, but is there a full cat back system for <$300?

Go to your local muffler shop. They can fab something up for you that'll cost you less than $300. Stick with 2" piping and get a Magnaflow if you want a deep sound.

I want a center exit but have a trailer hitch, so I'm going to do a custom dual exit setup that goes on both sides if the receiver, which is hardly visible anyway. One of my friends has a Borla muffler that is nice and loud but not ricey at all. Since there's no emissions regs should I go cat free?

What's the HP difference with vs without a cat?

I'm sure there's no real HP gain from any exhaust on the Yaris though. The only way to make serious power is forced induction on the 1NZ...

I'd say 2" if you're not running FI. You'll lose too much torque running 2.25 being N/A.

That's what I have, but in all honesty, stick to 2" unless you're planning on going force fed.

Catless might make it sound ricey and obnoxiously loud.

If you decide to be catless and to remove your stock resonator, you can opt for hi flow cats and a 24" resonator and you should be fine. Also, the choice of muffler will also play a big role in the noise department.

If you all remember, my car was pretty loud. However, I have taken off the magnaflow muffler and put on a new one. The noise level is near the same as was my Blitz axleback. This is having no cats and a 18" resonator. I will post pics soon. Tomorrow I am having a 2.25" hi flow cat put on. This will make my setup very nice. The exhaust won't be drowning everything out, and you'll hear more of the whinnneeeee!

Borla is pretty loud, right? That was what the member is planning on getting. But yeah, 24" resonator should quiet it down. You're didn't sound ricey, but was a bit loud for me. What did you use again? That member would benefit from your specs.

*edit, either I missed the section about your specs, or you put it in after. hahahahaha.

I updated my post. I used a magnaflow brand muffler. It was a straight thru design which didn't help it to be quiet. Borla is known to have a deep sound, but you can definately hear it when you give it some gas. However, I don't think they are as loud as magnaflows or flowmasters.

Ah. I see, my Magnaflow is also straight through, but as you saw in my vid, it's extremely quiet unless on WOT.

True. I should have mentioned, having a straight thru design with no cats won't help the noise department. With cats, it should be fine.

LOL. I still have both cats, and the stock resonator. May be that's why mine is quiet...but I don't know why some axle-backs are louder than my resonator-back?
