Lessons learned in Car Washing
Lesson number 1, it is not a good idea to go to a self-car wash when the temps are in the teens. Today I decided to take my care to a self car wash because my hose has been frozen for a while now. So, there I go, and I start washing it, and all looks good, so I go to the other side, and I clean it up, then I go back to the other side, and it's all frozen up already! So I spray some more to get rid of the newly formed ice, only to find more ice on the other side. Yeah, it was not a pretty sight....
And let me just say, drying off ice from a towel.....well.....not good..... Ahh well......ok, so lesson number 2 has a similar theme. It's not a good idea to keep cleaning supplies during sub-zero temperatures. My ArmorAll interior wipes were no longer wipes, they were bricks..., ice cold bricks.... And the same goes for my glass cleaning supplies....... |

Not sure about the Yaris, but in other cars that I washed in the cold, the locks froze up the next morning.

Funny...took me 3 winters to figure out I needed to store my cleaning/waxing supplies in the house!! Gets expensive buying ALL that stuff again in the Spring! Never wanted to use it after freezing...especially the wax and how it seperates in some brands.
We have had snow here in Northwest Indiana for the better part of 2 weeks straight and it is killing me! Am very anal about any of my cars and have not been able to do anything. Will run it through my dealers carwash but only because they are free!! Hopefully weather breaks some the next few days and I can hit it! Usually looks like this!! |

It was just that my car has been getting hit by rain and snow, and rain and snow.....I thought I might just try to wash it out..... Plus all the salt that has build up too.
Ahh....I miss the Spring and summer days, when I used to wash it once a week...... |

Can't wait till spring when I put them back on. Keep them and those tires for Summer and put the stocks on for winter. So she looks Plain-Jane right now! I use touchless car washes and get the cheapest wash available to get some of the salt/grime off. The one I use has a pseudo blow dry which takes off alot of water.....
it never leaves the car looking good but, it does look better. Gotta love winter!

One thing I love about the self serve car washes where I am is that they are in doors !
No freezing...till you pull out of the building and into the -20 that is. |
