2006 Toyota Yaris Sedan Launched (Australia)

All new exterior and interior styling

Toyota has launched Yaris sedan, a four-door small car with advanced packaging efficiency and high levels of active and passive safety.

It is Toyota’s first small sedan in Australia to combine front seat side airbags and full-length side curtain shield airbag availability as part of an optional Enhanced Safety Pack.

Yaris sedan has all-new exterior and interior styling and high levels of standard equipment.

A new, highly rigid body design has boosted passive safety and vehicle durability, while providing a stable platform for the new suspension and reducing interior noise levels.

The design optimises pedestrian safety, ease of repair in the event of a low-speed collision and recyclability.

Yaris sedan has an improved 1.5-litre VVT-i engine that can be matched to a five-speed manual transmission or an electronically controlled four-speed automatic transmission with a gated shift.

It is highly specified, with standard equipment that includes factory-fitted air conditioning, electronic throttle, dual SRS airbags, fuel-saving Electric Power-assisted Steering (EPS), a 14-inch brake package that includes ABS anti-skid brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), 15-inch wheels and a full-sized spare wheel.

Yaris sedan’s Enhanced Safety Pack consists of front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain shield airbags.

Yaris sedan’s ride and handling, interior comfort and interior appointments have the feel of a larger vehicle.

It has 905mm of couple distance (the distance from the front seat to the rear seat hip point) and an impressive 475 litres of boot capacity.

Its all-new interior includes wireless power door locks, power windows, tilt and telescopic adjustable steering column and three-spoke steering wheel, MP3-compatible single-disc CD player and four-speaker audio unit, analogue instruments with LCD display, digital clock, rotary-dial heater and air conditioning controls, illuminated entry system, body-coloured powered exterior mirrors and door handles, a versatile 60:40 split-fold rear seat with retractable head restraints, three rear-seat lap-sash seatbelts, driver’s and passenger’s vanity mirror with cover, and numerous storage locations.
