Old vs. New Yaris

I've been checking out some of the new Yaris designs... I drive an '07 myself and was just noticing how the '09 and '10 models are starting to look a bit more like the Honda Fit, especially when you add a spoiler.

old

vs.

new

The differences are subtle, but I prefer the older ones - the shape seems more round and aerodynamic... what do you guys think? Do you like the older or newer versions better?

Older FTW. The new lines are just not flush with the rest of the car. I think Toyota wants to unify their different car designs a bit. I've been noticing similar lines on the new Matrix and Corolla as well.

You should run a poll on this thread. Check inside Thread Tools.

And welcome to the forums!

Honestly, The new Yaris S kit makes the yaris look like a matrix. Sometimes I get confused when the two are parked right next to each other

Only thing I like about the 09 the new shifter boot and knob......that's about it cause TPMS is a bitch

The interiors in the 09 are also better IMO.

I dig the 09. I'm biased, though. I own one. :)

Wow. Can someone point out what the main differences are?? I have an '09 and didn't realize there is a difference. They all look like a little bubble. That's why I named my car Bubbles!

If you look closely, there are some bumps on the bumper, the fog lamp mounts are different and there are some minor cosmetic differences in the lines.

Your "old" has 4 doors. I didn't even know you could get 4 doors until this year.

I like the new model, too. I wouldn't mind trading. The Fit looks like a minivan.

09

I liked the 07 RS I had but the new 09 RS looks sharp I wish they had the 07 wheels though.
comparing the LE I like everything about the 09 better

Less so if you compare it with a more standard 09...

OLD

vs.

NEW

But I agree, the S kit does make it look more like a Fit and/or Matrix!

Cheers! M2

x2

i used to have an 04 matrix xrs....imo, both the 03/04 xrs (and xr in the states) and the 09 yaris look foolish w/o a drop, but look much sexier when dropped...

i prefer the lines of the 06-08 vs the 09+ yaris

I feel that the 2006-2008 JDM Vitz RS (the 1.8 Yaris TS shares the same styling) is the most complete-looking incarnation of the basic Yaris shape.

If had that car, I wouldn't change a single exterior part on it, except to lower the car.

The 07-08 looks friendlier. The 09 looks more aggressive. I like the 09 tail lights. They are both nice.

I prefer the more open grill on the pre-09s, especially when replaced with a deeper grill...

Cheers! M2
