Can I restore a scratched hubcap?

Was looking around ebay for hubcaps as mine are all scratched up. I've noticed some sellers selling reconditioned hubcaps looking in great shape. Do they spray paint then? Or sand them with paper?

Oh, also, will any regular 15" hubcaps from any auto store fit in my yaris? Or do I need to get specific Toyota ones?

Duplicolor makes a oem silver paint. I think if you just lightly sand down the scratches and repaint them they will look like new for only a couple of bucks for a can of paint. And good thing is you can keep the leftover paint for when you need to do touch ups.

Just make sure when you spray them practice on some soemthing first. Like old piece of carboard so you get how the spray nozzel works. You want to make light sweeping motions. Better to do several light coats to get the coverage you need than one heavy coat to avoid orange peel and dripping.

You can cut the plastic "welds" on the back and remove the emblems before painting then glue them back on after... not sure what would be the best glue to do that with, however...

Perhaps Gorilla Glue? That stuff is supposed to be super strong.

And yes, you can use generic 15" hubcaps from the auto parts store, eBay, etc.
I don't like the ones Toyota put on the Yaris.

Ok, just went to the auto store looking for the paint.....but then I just got similar looking yaris hubcaps. Now my tires look all shiny with no scratches! But the center part where the yaris emblem used to be is just empty....Hmm....maybe I can put something there? Anyone know of good stickers that stick through the rain and snow and stuff?
