2 quick questions - Toyota Yaris Forums

Been driving my Yaris for almost a month now and I love it

Just 2 really quick questions.

#1. Gas milage / meter.

I'm consistently getting 400 - 420 miles on a tank of gas out of this car which is great. However I keep filling up as soon as I'm down to 1 bar and it starts flashing.

When I fill up I have roughly 1 gallon of gas left, which means I'm averaging 40mpg on a tank of gas (good but not as good as I would like... but it's ok for now in Winter weather driving)

My question is how far can I get on this last bar of fuel (and plz don't say 40 miles

). Does the bar go away? Does it go below that line? Any other on dash lights or warnings other than the single blinking light?

#2. Winter weather braking

I'm not used to the brakes in this thing at ALL. This might be due to me always driving older cars, or just perhaps different setups.

My 95 eclipse had ABS and calipers on all 4 wheels. This Yaris is just.... crazy when I brake in ice and snow. I get this loud "bbbrraaauuuhhhh" and the pedal gets hard as a rock. I'm assuming this is normal and the cars computer is trying to "help" me brake more? My eclipse just stuttered and never locked the wheels.... while this thing I bet I could literally "stand" on the brake pedal and not get it to the floor.

Help!
