Remote trunk opener
I use my trunk quite a bit and I hate having to use my key to open it and/or having to use the trunk release lever on the drivers side. My previous car had a remote trunk opener and I was accustomed to the convenience of such laziness. Has anyone installed a remote keyless trunk opener on their sedan?

i have never done this (i'm sorry i might not be of too much help) but about 2 years ago i was looking to getting my mom (01 camry XLE) a truck release and at first i was looking to do it myself but had no idea where to begin so i consulted an expert. (or expert i was told ....iunno) the install was gonna cost me about $400 bucks and was gonna consist of a stronger spring to pop the trunk and a remote car starter to use as a drive to pop the truck..... not exactly what he ment or was talking about so i scrapped the idea and got her a CD :) lol
this is jsut an idea i'm gonna pull from the air, tell u, confuze u and probably get bashed on...i could see it working and this was the way i was gonna do it myself in the firstplace. i know from the dealer they can change your lock and unlock coded (1 click unlocks front door, 2 clicks unlock all doors) so maybe if u can get it changed to 1 click unlocks all doors, 2 clicks power servo?? that pulls truck release cable..... lol, hence y i wanted to seek professional help with the matter. the problem is that the trunk release is mechanical so u somewhere need to have an electronically controlled actuator and once that is installed jsut rig it up to the wireless key somehow ( new idea, possibally panic toggle??) remember i haven't done it, this is jsut an idea on how it could be done. hopefulling this is giving u new insight incase no one on the fourm has done it yet.... DIY IT!!

I've been wanting one for the longest time, it'd be so helpful.
If anyone has done it on the sedan, please do share the info :] TIA! |

How does the remote look like?
It'd be sweeter if I can just have it in the same remote as my alarm but that would probably cost more than I'm willing to spend on this thing |

I will be using the remote that is coming in with my alarm next week which will be a flip key style remote.

fnkngrv: Were you able to successfully install this on your sedan? I recently bought one for my sedan trunk as well.

It is fairly simple to install however I haven't completed it yet. My turbo build and a few other things took precedence. Also I may be going with the Advanced Keys setup so it might complicate matters, but I would think that it would work fine.

I'm a newbie owner for '07 Yaris sedan, and I had an alarm installed within a week (keyless entry is essential). Installers said they would need to order a $100+ part to have the trunk linked into it. I didn't have that much $ at the time, but now I'm considering it...
Looking forward to an update! :) |

Nope. The Pure performance mods took precedence.
